Professional Experience

Building scalable solutions and contributing to development teams through hands on experience

Design/DevOps Student Developer

Kansas State University
August 2023 - August 2025

As a Design/DevOps Student Developer at Kansas State University, my team managed over 100 repositories spanning critical university systems including student government elections, the student portal, and backend services for cross functional teams. Over my two year tenure, I gained hands on experience with real world development practices, leading projects from conception to production deployment.

I actively participated in agile development workflows, including daily stand ups to communicate project status, leading both individual and collaborative development efforts, and participating in code reviews. My technical focus centered on .NET and Java/Spring Boot/Maven web applications, while gaining comprehensive experience with the full software development lifecycle including testing, CI/CD, Jenkins, and production releases.

I leveraged AWS cloud services for development infrastructure, including EKS and EC2 for container orchestration, and utilized Atlassian tools for project management, story tracking, and technical documentation. This role provided invaluable experience in enterprise level development practices and cross team collaboration that I apply to my iOS experience.

On average, I worked 25-30 hours per week, and when class was not in session during breaks, I worked 40 hours per week.

Key Achievements:

  • Role Tool Development: Architected and delivered a .NET web application enabling self-service permission management across internal teams, streamlining access control processes and reducing administrative overhead
  • Security Enhancement: Successfully integrated Duo MFA authentication into legacy applications, significantly reducing security vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with university standards
  • Service Migration: Led migration of SOAP services from Apache Axis to Apache CXF, improving security and reducing technical debt
  • Rapid Response: Consistently delivered high priority tasks and urgent fixes, maintaining system reliability and user satisfaction
  • UI/UX Improvements: Collaborated with neighboring teams to implement new features and user interface enhancements that improved end user experience and system usability
  • Mentorship: Provided guidance and technical support to fellow student developers, facilitating their onboarding and contributing to complex project implementations
